Arbor Loos

For your good health! Good sanitation lowers diarrheal disease by up to 73%.Trees improve the environment and provide food.

The arbor loo is an inexpensive portable toilet. A small hole 2 feet wide and 3 feet deep is dug and a portable concrete slab put over the hole. Poles support papyrus mat walls and an mbati roof.

After each use, add a little soil, sawdust or leaves to the hole. This prevents odor and prepares for the tree. When the hole is full to about six inches from the top, simply dig another hole and move the slab and structure over the new hole.
Finish filling the old hole with dirt and plant a tree. The tree will flourish in this well fertilized hole.
